As the Commerce Editor, I was tasked with establishing an editorial affiliate revenue-focused commerce product intended to expand the brand’s utility to users as well as to create scalable and automated revenue opportunities.
Audit the market to identify and test myriad revenue opportunities that align with the Great Big Story ethos and zero in on what works.
Build division from the ground up. Identify and create processes, workflows, calendars, affiliate relationships, team structure, CMS capabilities, KPIs, calendars and promotional strategies.
Hire and establish a worldwide stable of world class freelance contributors who frequently experiment with new types of content and revenue opportunities.
Manage budget for and production of consistent commerce-focused content around gift giving, sustainability, travel, food, media and fascinating topics and characters.
Develop and implement content SEO optimization strategy, brand outreach program,
Liaise with production, programming, social media, legal, CNN Underscored, sales, art department and more in order to execute high-quality content and serve it up to the most aligned audience.
Establish strong alliance with sister site, CNN Underscored, and promote Great Big Story content on the CNN homepage in the Underscored box.
Liaise with CNN Creative Partnerships and Legal Department to ideate, pitch and produce lucrative Branded Guides in partnership with global brands and boards of tourism including: Ghana Tourism Authority, Suntory, Germany Travel, ASICS and Al Nippon Airways.
Project management, reporting analytics, Omniture report creation and oversight, Chartbeat monitoring, Trackonomics reporting and analysis.
